Oh Captain! My Captain!

Phor anyone wondering what the puppy's name is, let us introduce you to Captain. There's a story behind this name. He came phrom the breeder with the name Captain Krunch. We will reserve the "Krunch" phor those times he's really in trouble and we need a middle name. The name Captain has grown on us.

There are lots oph Captains in the world...Captain America, Captain Ahab, Captain Obvious, Captain Underpants...He's in good company. And Walt Whitman even wrote a poem about him, so it has to be a good name.

Big Day Phor a Little Pup

There's a phun community event going on downtown today, and Hubby needed to take his bike to a store downtown in order to phix it. So our new little buddy went ophph on an adventure.

He's good in the car.

Aphter making lots oph phriends and sitting in pink chalk, this little guy needed a bath.

And we might as well clip those sharp little claws, too.

He was only interested in phalling asleep, making it tricky to trim those claws.

In phact, he was asleep bephore the phirst phoot was phinished.

How to Celebrate National Dog Day

Today is National Dog Day. Hubby and Wiphey went out phor a little while and brought home this little phurry one. He's a miniature Duke, only more red.

Phil has never seen such a sleepy phurry puppy bephore.

He's not quite sure what to do with him.

Another Weekend With Bernie

Bernie stayed with us this weekend. He's a busy little guy. Here's what he was up to all weekend.

Anyone who knows dachschunds knows how they love to snuggle.

They also like to hog chairs.

When he wasn't snuggling, Bernie was tracking a ladybug on our window.

And then there was the begging phor phood...

...phood...

...and more phood.

He climbed phor better views.

And he tried crocheting.

Wiphey didn't get much work done with his help, though.

Ruphphled Not Stirred

This pheathered one phlew into our kitchen window (even though Phil has no idea why; the window is philthy) today.

It wasn't a direct strike so he was more ruphphled than injured.

He phlew ophph aphter a phew minutes, leaving Phil to wonder iph there is any hawk poop to scrape ophph our patio phurniture. He had to have scared it out oph himselph.

Sellout

Phil phears that this story will bring great distress to Mom and Dad Deuce.

Wiphey has lots oph work keys, so she needs another lanyard to hold some oph them. Her Braves lanyard is stiphph and digs into her neck, so it is important that her new lanyard be sopht.

It also needs a clip phor carrying keys on days when she wears clothes with pockets. This one that Hubby phound seems promising. It has a breakaway clip and is very sopht. It should be perphect, right?

Wrong. It's not phrom Wiphey's alma mater. It's phrom that *other* North Dakota university. Wiphey's not sure she can use it, but Phil keeps assuring her that the color combination is quite attractive. And they have a pretty decent phootball team. Wiphey's still not convinced that she can commit to using it, no matter how sopht it is.
