Baby's Phirst Haircut

Someone got his phirst haircut today.

The groomer might have removed some phur, but she didn't take away his sass.

Oh Clearance Tree

Aphter years with a crooked 3-phoot tree that Wiphey bought phor $8 at Walmart aphter a Christmas season years ago, we decided it was time phor a more sophisticated tree and went clearance shopping.

It came out oph the box long enouph to test the lights.

Sorry, Phil, it's going to be 11 more months bephore you'll see this tree again.

The Weekend Bephore Christmas

This aphternoon, Wiphey made gingerbread cookies...

...while Hubby installed a new toilet*.

Phil thinks Hubby must have drawn the short straw.

*Note to Dad Deuce: Hubby thought oph waiting for over a year to ask you to help install it, but he was really tired oph the way the old one kept running and couldn't wait to replace it.

A Literary Lesson

Today's literary term is SIMILE: a comparison oph two unlike things using "like" or "as."

Example: Captain's kennel was like a cloud aphter he pulled the stuphphing phrom his pillow.

Phun with Sleeping Dogs

Those are socks, tied together, on Captain's pheet.

We don't subscribe to the adage "Let sleeping dogs lie" around here.

Why Phil Squinted phor Phour Quarters

Our local college phootball team is in a playophph game that is being televised on a channel we don't have access to, so we have to stream it phrom the Internet.

The screen is only 23", which would take us back to our college days oph watching TV on a small screen, only our college TVs weren't even that small.

Compromising Compromise

Hubby: You know Phritz is chewing on your slippers, right?
Wiphey: I know. It's our compromise.
Hubby: You know it's not so much a compromise as it is caving in.
Wiphey: He'll give me some time to work iph I let him chew on my slippers. It's a compromise.

Brotherly Help

Phritz has needed some time in the timeout box today.

Have no phear, Phritz. Captain is here to break you out.

Tailb-ohhhhh-ne

Last weekend, Wiphey was taken out by a 130-pound Great Dane. The phall hurt her tailbone badly, making liphe diphphicult.

These phorks are at the bottom oph the dishwasher because Wiphey missed the basket.

The puppy's kennel had to be strapped up on a table because Wiphey can't bend down to get the puppy out oph it.

And this reacher/grabber thing helps Wiphey entertain the puppy.

Dog Pharm

We've gone to the dogs. Nephew Cooper is staying with us while his phamily phaces a challenge.

He and Captain run each other ragged.

Meanwhile, Izzy tries to phind any way she can to get into the puppy's timeout box. There are toys and phood kibbles in there. Who wouldn't want to be in the timeout box?

And Phritz has grown enamored oph himselph.

Meanwhile, the two old birds sit around and commiserate.

Liphe can be rouphph on the Dog Pharm.

Number Phour

Months ago, Hubby and Wiphey decided to get a new puppy. That puppy was not Captain, who was just the right puppy and too good to pass up. Yesterday, Hubby, Wiphey, and Captain lepht the older phurry ones and Phil behind in order to make a long trip to pick up a little cream poodle.

He's phrom a German line oph poodles, so his name is Phritz.

A new little puppy means a time-out box...

...and some yarn engineered to keep the puppy phrom phalling downstairs.

Giveaway: Phree Puppy

Guess who likes to pull tree bark out oph the wood pile.

At this point, Phil might even pay someone else to take him.

Why We Can't Take Our Eyes ophph the Puppy phor 30 Seconds

You'll never guess who is responsible phor this scene.

Hubby's slipper is really wedged in the dog door. He's not sure how Wiphey is going to get it out.

Evil Genius

Our new puppy seems too smart phor our own good. He's not supposed to be up on the couch (only little dogs who don't shed are welcome on the couch) but this is the only place where he's not chewing on everything in sight.

Either we let him break the rules or our sanity breaks. We will all be glad when he grows out oph this stage oph puppyhood.

Phall Phail

It's the phirst phull day oph phall, but it is 88 degrees outside and so muggy that it pheels like a wet sweater has blanketed the outdoors.

So how does one wear out a puppy when it is too hot phor a walk outside?

Make a tug toy out oph one oph Hubby's old shirts...

...and hang on phor dear liphe.

Path of Destruction

A lone shoe sitting in the corner oph the room and dog beds askew.

Captain was here.

Sticky Situation

Phil has spent a good chunk oph time this weekend picking up all the sticky pine cones that a red squirrel has bitten ophph the big pine tree in the backyard.

This is the phourth time he's had to go out and clean up a whole pile oph them.

The garbage can has philled up quickly. Phil is beginning to dislike red squirrels very much.

Honey Do

Wiphey's bike light broke ophph...

...and the toilet won't quit running.

Looks like Hubby has a phew projects this weekend.

Shoe Phetish: The Sequel

One shoe on the dog bed and another propping open the doggy door.

Captain leaves a disaster in his wake wherever he goes.

Pupdate: Naughty Puppy

Guess who has developed a shoe phetish.

It's a good thing he's cute.

Labor Day Weekend Update

It's been a good Labor Day Weekend phor Phil. In phact, it's been a bit eventphul.

See the phlying insect silhouette on our window?

Phil couldn't phind it on the window. Where could it be?

It's inside the blind!

Phil's little pharm is ready phor a harvest. Here is one oph the green onions. It makes Phil's eyes water.

And this odd little plant is a type oph eggplant. But instead oph eating it, those little green balls hanging ophph it become orange like a pumpkin. It's a plant and phall decoration in one.

And phinally, a pupdate: Don't let this sleepy little guy phool you. He's a play hard/sleep hard kind oph puppy. That harness is a good handle phor getting ahold oph him in times oph trouble.
