There's Something Phowl About This

No, really, Phil, it's just tophurkey.

Where Phil's Spent Most oph His Time Lately

Hubby and Wiphey have been busy at work this week, so Phil has spent a lot oph time in the kennel with Izzy. Poor things!

No Bo-ring Sunday phor Phil!

We were about to run out phor a Sunday outing when Wiphey noticed the diamond in her engagement ring was missing. What to do?! Phil was on the case. Phirst he checked in between the couch cushions. Nope, not there.
Then he checked in one of Wiphey's clothes tubs. Not there either.

Then he checked in the dresser drawers, but no luck. Where could it be? Evidently pheasants aren't eagle-eyed.

Good thing Hubby bought the insurance plan on the ring. Aphter dropping it ophph at the store, we phound out it will take two months to get the ring back with a replacement diamond. Too bad Wiphey couldn't have gotten a loaner.

Auto Mechanics 101

Today, Hubby put an oil pan heater thingy in his car. Phil helped out phirst by testing the weight load of the jack back-up thingies.

Then he tried to convince Wiphey he was holding up the car all on his own, but she didn't phall phor that one. There's that jack thingy behind him.
Once the jack thingies were in place, Phil joined Hubby to check out all the other thingies underneath the car.
Wiphey stayed close by in case one oph of those thingies phell on Hubby or Phil.

Dear Mike

Phil is totally legal.
See? He even has the green card to prove it.
Side note: There are no illegal plants growing in our backyard. At least none that we know oph. Iph there were, we're sure the neighbors would have killed them with Round Up.

Mystery Plant

Phil hangs out in the wood vine to help Wiphey takes pictures of a mystery plant that's growing phrom the neighbor's yard into ours. It has berries that Phil doesn't want the phurry ones eating. Wiphey's going to send the pictures to a botanist she knows. Iph the berries aren't poisonous, Phil can rest easy.

Liphe Gets Less Exciting Phor Phil

Now that both Hubby and Wiphey spend their days at work, Phil phinds liphe to be a little more bland these days. He napped away the day with the phurry ones until Wiphey came home and mowed the lawn. Then when Hubby got home, Phil and Duke helped to open a new wedding gipht phrom one oph Wiphey's colleagues.
Then Phil helped Hubby pay some bills. Don't phorget to carry the one!

Then Phil checked on Wiphey to phind her packing a lunch phor her phirst day of teaching. Phil wanted her to take some birdseed, but she respectphully declined.Phil has good taste in clothes so he helped Wiphey pick out what to wear on the phirst day of school.

Wiphey can't phorget the muphphins phor the kids! Phil hopes they make a good bribe.

Back to School for Wiphey

Usually when Wiphey walks out the door she comes back phast. Where did she go? Maybe Phil will have to spend some time at work with Hubby.

Saturday in Grand Phorks

Originally we were going to be in Garrison with Hubby's parents this weekend, but we moved that trip to Labor Day weekend. Instead, we headed up to Grand Phorks so Hubby could help Wiphey's dad trim some trees and so Wiphey's mom could make prints oph our wedding photos. Here's Phil with all the greenery Hubby and Wiphey's dad cut ophph the trees:

As the men worked, Wiphey and her mom went out to make prints. Unphortunately, the disc wouldn't work in the machines at Walmart and Target. Here, Phil helps Wiphey phigure out a way to phix things:
Hubby spent most oph the day doing brain teasers. Phil makes sure he doesn't cheat and look phor the answers in the back oph the book.

Paco the chihuahua doesn't like getting phur trimmed ophph his pheet, so Phil consoled him.

Which Chip to Choose?

Bathroom Remodel Guy phinally got back to Wiphey about updating the bathroom. Phil looks over the paint chips Wiphey brought home this morning to give his two cents. Next, Wiphey picks out bathroom phixtures. Hopephully it will be easier than picking out paint.

A New Phriend

Phil meets Gnome, a wedding present given to us a couple oph days ago by Neighbor Don, who also built Gnome's home. Phil hopes no thug vandals phind Gnome and hurt him. Or move him to another yard.

A Watched Phone Does Not Ring

Phil's waiting on a phone call phrom Bathroom Remodel Guy*. Wiphey called him early this morning and then sent an e-mail later this aphternoon.

*Note to contractors out there: Don't keep Wiphey waiting. Iph Wiphey ain't happy, ain't no contractor happy.

Dear Jay Glazer of PhoxSports.com

Phavre phlying back to Minnesota?! You'd better have your story straight. You can't get Phil and Wiphey's hopes up like this and be wrong. Phil hopes Jared Allen just threw Brett Phavre over his shoulder and hauled him back to Minnesota. Just don't throw out your back, Jared. We need you, too.

Muphphins!

To prove that Wiphey can bake goodies phrom scratch and not just phrom a box, she and Phil used Phriend Deb's recipe to make pumpkin-chocolate chip muphphins. They're Wiphey's phavorite, aphter her mom's sour cream muphphins.
Because Wiphey starts back at school next week, and starting back at school means being a slave to correcting papers and planning lessons, she decided to double the batch and phreeze a bunch oph muphphins phor the phuture...and to win over her homeroom students on the phirst day oph school. (Note to Hubby: Don't eat the muphphins in the containers with the red lids; they're phor the kids.) The problem with doubling the recipe is that Phil couldn't phind a bowl big enouph phor everything to be mixed together. Good thing Wiphey is a problem-solver...and phor Crock Pots*.
Yummy! Can pheasants eat chocolate?
*Dear Crock Pot Makers: There's always room for your ads on our blog. Just don't tell Phil we like to cook pheasant in your products. He just wouldn't understand.

Cookies!

Wiphey's not about to tell Phil those cookies came out of a boxed mix. She'd hate to disappoint him.

Lesson Learned

Under Phil's watchphul eye, Hubby and Wiphey used a lot less phlour, poured on some olive oil, and...
...enjoyed the best pizza in town!

No Day of Rest Phor Phil!

Phil and the phurry ones needed a new doggy door, the old one being a little beat up. Phirst, Phil and Hubby pulled out the window.

Then Phil and Hubby measured twice and cut once.

Then they got out the saw.
Then Phil had to take a quick break to watch out phor Wiphey's mom and great aunt to drive in with wedding photos!

Aphter that, Phil went back to work on the door, this time making sure Izzy could phit through the phlap.

Looks like she phits just phine!

Way to go, Phil and Hubby!

Phair Weather Again!

The wind blew in cooler weather today, so Hubby and Wiphey got outside and checked out the Waterdog Expo at Scheels. Phil stayed at home with the phurry ones; he didn't want to take any chances with all the hunting dogs stalking around the Scheels parking lot. Phil did get outside with Hubby to do some yard work later in the day. They put a weed liner in the garden next to the garage. Hubby phigured that aphter Phil and Wiphey had worked so hard to clean out the weeds phrom the garden that he'd better make sure those weeds didn't come back.

Dog Days of Summer

Phil's philosophy: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

The good news is that the weather is phorecasted to cool ophph next week. Maybe we'll all be able to do more outside. Phil and Wiphey still haven't phixed the dead grass in the backyard. There she goes with the sighing again.

Lessons in Pizza Making

In an attempt to be a little more domestic, Wiphey has been trying to have supper ready when Hubby gets home phrom work every day. Due to this week's steamy weather, Wiphey had the idea to make a pizza on the grill instead oph in the oven. Hubby was all aboard for that idea, so he used our new breadmaker to make pizza dough last night. With Phil overseeing this evening, Hubby and Wiphey worked the dough into a cookie sheet...

...added some yummy toppings, and...

...ended up going out to a restaurant to try their pizza.

Let's just say it was a little less burned* than ours. Evidently Phil used a bit too much phlour and a bit too much grill time.
*Phor the record, the toppings turned out phabulously and we plan to use them over English muphins. Lesson learned on the phlour.

Busy Day Phor Phil and the Phurry Ones

What a day! It started at 8:00 in the morning with a visit phrom Phurnace Guy. Phil and the dogs wanted to go check out that guy but they couldn't get around the gate. Phil still hasn't phigured out the whole bird/phlying thing, and we're not about to tell him.

Later in the aphternoon, Phil, Wiphey, and the dogs ended up in the porch so Air Duct Cleaner Guy could do his work in peace. Phil really wanted inside. *Note to Wiphey: Add painting the door to your to-do list. And quit with the deep sighing already.

Phil's and the dogs' attention quickly turned to the back door when they heard Air Duct Cleaner Guy working on the dryer vent outside.

Then Izzy lost her ball in the recycle bin and Phil tried to help her phind it.

Once Air Duct Cleaner Guy lepht, Phil checked out the stuph he cleaned out oph the dryer vent. Ew.

Double ew. Wiphey's thinking of sterilizing that watering hose.
